I was so shocked to find out I had invasive lobular breast cancer at the age of 39. Once I found my surgeons and oncologist, I felt so reassured and supported by my medical team. My breast cancer journey highlighted so many things for which I am grateful. I had, and still have, an amazing support system of friends, family and prayer warriors. It’s an unexpected gift that an experience of crisis can be a wonderful reminder of who you have in your life. I lived a good life before I had breast cancer. I live an even greater one now. I am reminded to spend time on what matters most in life, to be grateful for challenges because of what they can teach you, and that with the right team of doctors, friends, family and fellow survivors, a girl can get through anything!
